· Touring Bird: “Take a break from meat at a veg cafe” ·

Buenos Aires has an intense obsession with meat, but vegetarians and vegans aren’t overlooked. Herbivores (and those who might need a break from steak) should head to the chichi neighborhood of Palermo, home to the family-run Bio. This charming spot on the corner of tree-lined Humboldt Street is a veggie delight. Expect quinoa risotto, stir fries, Mediterranean couscous, and many mushroom and tofu dishes served in a convivial, spring-green setting. Drinks include a refreshing ginger lemonade or Argentine organic wine (there’s an extensive list to choose from). Fancy re-creating this wholesome cuisine once you get back home? Sign up for one of Bio’s cooking classes – see the website for the schedule.
